day 10

today’s workout (W4D1) from c25k: brisk five-minute warmup walk, then jog 3 minutes, walk 90 seconds, jog 5 minutes, walk 2-1/2 minutes, jog 3 minutes, walk 90 seconds, jog 5 minutes.

stats: time 43:36; distance 2.86 miles; calories 400ish; pace 15:14 (max of 7:56); heartrate average 126, max 178 (a big ole ish on these)

thoughts: another big step up from the prior week! misery wall made its appearance again, but i pushed through and did the runs as instructed. it may not be a lot for some people to run 5 minutes in a stretch, but it’s a lot for me to consistently be doing this. my goal is to stay on target, do these workouts three times per week, and not cheat. there were a couple of places where all i wanted to do was walk, but i didn’t. and i’m proud of myself for that. i have a friend who just completed an ultramarathon last week. a FIFTY KILOMETER run. i felt super inadequate when i saw that, but had a little attitude adjustment after griping on twitter and getting some good feedback. friend may have done a 50k, but there’s no purpose in comparing myself to her. i’m really still excited to be on track for a 5k.

my HR monitor had some issues again and i have no idea how to fix it. i think the strap might have been too loose (it’s snug, but not tight), so i’ve tightened it for next time. if that doesn’t work, i have no idea what will. i think this thing would be easier to use if i were a boy–bras (and what they hold in) seem to get in the way. but that’s not changing any time soon, so maybe (hopefully) some more finagling will help. bc the HR monitor was off, the calories and HR stats are off.

how are your workouts going?
